Remembering your child

Memory making

We can help you to create precious mementos that you can treasure forever. These can include hand and footprint canvasses (including the prints of other family members), locks of hair, and keyrings.

Reflection Room

The reflection room can be used by families as a quiet area for peace and contemplation. There is a screen where parents have the option to have pictures of their child displayed along with special music and poems or words of your choice.

Remembrance Book

Your child will be allocated an individual page in one of our memorial books in the Reflection Room and their name will be added to the Book of Remembrance.

Reflection Garden

You can choose to have a pebble for your child placed in a spot beside our pebble pool in the reflection garden. This is a pebble with your child’s name and a date if you wish. You can visit the reflection garden at any time.

Anniversaries

At Derian we know certain anniversaries or dates evoke more emotion than others. You will receive a remembrance card and “thinking of you” card on your child’s anniversary and birthday following their death. We do this for three years – if you would prefer not to receive these cards then please do not hesitate to let us know.

Forget-me-not Service

Each year the hospice holds a service of celebration and remembrance for all the children and young people who have died.

This year’s service will take place on Sunday 12 May at 2pm.

The service will be held on the meadow adjacent to Derian House.
